Dexascan
This is a safe and easy test that can diagnose the health of your bones, your risks of falls and future fractures, and your risk of developing osteoporosis. Bone Density Testing, commonly called Dexascan, is generally covered by Medicare and most insurance companies approximately every 24 months. This test using X-ray technology is a quick study of both hip joints, the lumbar spine, and/or one or both forearms and lasts about 20 minutes. Results are shared with the patient's primary care physician for further discussion and treatment when necessary.

Ultrasound
These studies use grayscale images, color flow images, together with Doppler waveform analysis to determine the presence and/or severity of blockages in the carotid arteries of the neck and the intracranial arteries of the Circle of Willis in the brain. Neurology and Neurosurgery departments at CNOS use these studies on many patients with a variety of signs and symptoms including temporary speech or vision difficulties, or numbness and tingling on one side of the body involved with TIAs (mini-strokes), as well as major strokes. These studies are read and interpreted by physicians here at CNOS.
